Life's Too Short To Have Bad Hair

Ashley Varney

I get questions a lot about my hair so I figured I would write a post about it. I love my hair, I just love hair in general. I worked in the beauty industry for 8 years, my love for it will never go away I just had a different path career-wise that was a better fit for me. Some day I may go back to it, I'm a licensed cosmetologist and esthetician. I have so many friendships from the industry I'm so thankful for.

I have been getting my hair colored blonde since I was in middle school. I was born to be a blonde. I see Alyssa the owner of Insideout Beauty Studio in Dover, NH. She is a blonde wizard. She does a full foil and then tones it to help me achieve that ashy blonde and kick the brass out. She does baby-highlights the majority of the time but every once in a while I'll switch it up with a root smudge. I am very dark naturally so I get my hair colored every 6 weeks or so.

I also have hair extensions currently...I LOVE them. I see my other hair wizard Sam at the West End Hair Studio in Portsmouth, NH. She just so happens to also be my BFF and when it comes to extensions she knows her stuff. Tape-in hair extensions are by far my favorite out of the ones I've tried. I use the brand Platinum Seamless (also my favorite) the quality of the hair is out of this world. You would NEVER know it isn't my real hair by feel. I get the 18" extensions and I love the length of them, last time I did 20" but they were just a little too long for me. My tape-ins last me for about 3 months. I am very careful with them and try to sleep with my hair in a braid and silk pillowcases every night to make sure they aren't getting tension on them when I sleep. I also try to wash my hair every three days which definitely helps too. I use Olaplex products for my treatment, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. I also use the best purple shampoo EVER. I swear I have tried so many and this one works wonders. It helps my hair stay the ashy blonde I love. If you need a purple shampoo you NEED this one in your life, but be very careful using it because it's so pigmented it can stain and I only recommend using it once a week. If you have any questions about my extensions please message me or book a free consult with my friend Sam. You can find her on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/samanthaatthewestendhairstudio/

Products I use on my hair in the shower:

Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 Repairs and Strengthens

Olaplex Bond Maintenance No. 4 Shampoo

Olaplex Bond Maintenance No. 5 Conditioner

What I use on my hair after the shower:

Olaplex Bond Smoother No.6 Leave-in Reparative Styling Creme

OUAI Haircare Leave In Conditioner

I get a lot of questions on my styled hair as well in particular my beach waves. I always blow dry my hair every time I wash it. My hair never really looks or feels that great if I don't blow dry it. I get my beach waves by using a beach curler I will link here for you! Also, the Wet Brush is my favorite, so helpful with bleached blonde hair to get the tangles out gently, linked here. I use a straightener on other days, I'm currently using the Amica straightener and for curling irons, Hot Tools are the best, I have a few different sizes!

Hopefully, you can try out some of these tips or amazing products for your own hair. If you do let me know what you try and if you like it.

xoxo,

Ashley
